Starmach wins first Major Zone

The academy had some great results for the month of November. Coach Cory and Coach Alex accompanied the Superchamp team to Houston for the weekend.
Sean Rodriguez had another strong showing before falling in a tough three setter in the round of 16.
Daniela Schechter, in her first tournament back in supers, also advanced to the round of 16 in Girls 16s B draw.
Mark Coutin scored the comeback of the tournament when he came back from 6-1 down in a second set tie breaker to win the breaker, the set and the match. Glenn Griffin had a great run to the quarterfinals of Boys 18s B draw, knocking of the #6 seed before falling to the tournament’s
eventual winner. Ryan Ward, Venesa Figueroa, Stephen Slubar, and David Dudics also scored victories at the tournament.
But the highlight of the tournament had to be Lukas Starmach winning the Boys 14s A draw.
Cory and Alex knew Lukas was playing some good tennis heading into the tournament but were amazed at the level he maintained throughout the entire event.
Lukas steamrolled through the first 4 rounds on Saturday and Sunday losing only 19 games. Monday, however, was a different story. He battled through 2 long three setters against 2 tough players from Newks before finally capturing the title.
Congratulations to Lukas for an outstanding achievement!
