A New Beginning for the Academy

As many of you know, Steve Denton left the academy in August of 2006 to take the men's head coaching position at Texas A&M University in College Station. During his time in Corpus, Steve was instrumental in bringing the facility back up to speed, speerheading the $500,000 bond issue in November of 2005 that saw major renovation to our facility, as well as being the principal figure in the fundraising and construction of the Sessions Pavilion. Steve also founded the Denton Di Laura Tennis Academy, predecessor to the current academy, with Carlos Di Laura and Cory Brooks in September of 2001. We wish him well in his new endeavor and thank him for all he did during his time at the tennis center!
In December the City of Corpus Christi named Cory Brooks as the Facility Manager for the H.E.B. Tennis Center. Cory will also assume the role as President of Premier Tennis, Inc. and Director of Tennis for the Premier Tennis Academy. The current staff will remain the same, with Alex Johansson directing the junior programs and Paul Cass directing the adult programs. Cory hopes to build upon the academy's past successes with the addition of new and exciting programs. We are very excited about the prospect of a long lasting relationship between Premier Tennis, Inc. and the City of Corpus Christi!
